We liked Wake Med Cary for our delivery and hospital stay. All the nurses were pretty great.
We were there Wed and Thursday night and checked out on Friday morning.
Luc weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces at birth and 7 pounds 1 ounce at checkout so he lost some weight after birth which is kind of normal but they said it was 8% and close to when they worry at 10%..
It took him a little while to pee since we are breastfeeding but he pooped great right from the get go :) Speaking of pee, it took me a little while to pee also from the labor trauma to all the inner workings down there. They threatened to give me a catheter if I couldn't go by a certain time. Thankfully, I was able to go right before the deadline.
We were able to try breastfeeding right away and made some progress during the stay. A lactation consultant came in to help us get it right. It is difficult to feed a newborn though because they are so sleepy the days after birth. They feed and fall asleep and then you can't wake them to feed at the next feeding time either. But we managed to get most of his feedings in even if they weren't very long.
Sleeping in the hospital is difficult with all the nurses coming and going at different times.
He had his jaundice check the morning before we checked out. His birilium level was 9 something and they recommended getting it checked again the next day. (It was going down so everything is good.)
1 day old!
