Moving
He is rolling over and is starting to get around that way. He can go up on hands and knees by himself but kind of wobbles around once he's there like he's not sure what to do next. I did see him shuffling his knees a little so as soon as he figures it out he'll be all over the place. He's sitting up better. He can stay sitting for a while if he has something in front of him that he wants to look at or play with but if he looks around too much down he goes. He is also going up on hands and feet with his head towards the floor and butt in the air! Still trying to get a picture of that. We have to babyproof the house, so that's our next thing.
Doctors Visit
His last doctor's visit went well (6 month visit). It was the first one that we went to without Nicolas.
Head circumference: 43 cm - 25-50th Percentile
Length: 27 inches, (68.58 cm) - 90th Percentile
Weight: 14 pounds, 1.5 ounces (6.39 kg) - 5th Percentile
He increased from 75th to 90th percentile in length and decreases from 20th (really probably around 10th) to 5th percentile. He's pretty healthy but seems tall and skinny. We're wondering if he'll continue to be tall or is just having a spurt.
Weight Gain/ Milk Supply/ Formula Supplementing/ Food
He slipped on the weight curve a little more and since I sounded concerned the doctor started asking me if I knew how much he may be getting. Well, I told her how much I had been pumping at a time and it sounded about right. But I still felt a little unsure about how much he was getting so I started pumping and it was significantly less than what I had been pumping before. So, I spent one day being upset about my milk supply. I decided we would just supplement with formula and I didn't have the energy to fight to bring my milk supply back up. I did decide to try fenugreek anyway... and that seems to have helped. Most days I am now giving him a bottle of breastmilk mixed with formula and then pumping after he finishes that so I have more for the next feeding. Luc doesn't seem to like the formula. Mixing it with breastmilk helps tremendously. I don't like pumping but it's easier to know what he's getting instead of nursing and wondering if he got enough or what did he get. We also made some changes to his schedule. He was nursing almost every 2-3 hours during the day and every 3-4 hours at night. This night nursing obviously interrupts my sleep too. so our new schedule/supplementing has him getting enough at one time that he is not hungry as soon. so he can go longer during the day and pretty much goes from 8:30/9pm to 6/7am every night. YAY sleeping!!! :) We're probably supplementing 2-8 ounces a day with formula. I finally figured out a nursing/feeding/pumping schedule. He nurses/gets a bottle 4 times a day and he's getting two 'meals' with a bottle or water.
He's also eating 2 'meals' a day. His foods include sweet potatoes, avocados, carrots, peas, green beans, squash, pears, peaches, apples, rice cereal, and oatmeal cereal. I'm making some things (sweet potatoes, avocados, carrots, peas so far) and buying others. It's really easy to cook the stuff, food process it, and freeze it in 2 ounce portions. He really likes pears.
Other changes
There are no teeth yet. The drool doesn't seem as bad right now as it was, maybe i'm just getting used to it, haha.
His hair is starting to grow again. I noticed it a couple days ago and it freaked me out. I'm so used to be able to see through his hair that if that changes it will just be bizarre.
He's just growing so fast.
In the last few weeks he seems to be settling into longer naps. Maybe it is due to having a full belly....

What have we been doing?
Music class! Luc and I are going to a music class. We sing songs and shake shakers and dance around. It's fun. Luc looks around like, what in the world are these people doing... The teacher is singing and very expressive so he watches her. Then sometimes he just chews on the shaker :) The drums startled him last class. Nicolas has been travelling, 3 trips this month! Mom came to stay with me and help out. We had a great time :)
There is a story time at the library on wednesday mornings, but I didn't get up for it last week. we'll try this week :)
Nicolas is sick (a cold) and he's still working at 11:20. hmmm.....
