Eight months

We were very happy to have Genevieve here for her visit!  I took a much appreciated break from being 'on' all the time and she helped out with Luc. It was awesome :)

Luc was a cowboy for Halloween. I made his vest myself :)

It seems harder to write posts when I haven't been keeping up with them. It feels like I have too much to say and feel like I am forgetting all kinds of things.

We think Luc is finally teething for real.  For about a month we had a break from drool but now it's back with a vengeance.  Slobber city. he just spent 5 minutes chewing on a pacifier instead of playing with his toys. Really going to town on that thing.

He's starting to wave. He is so much more mobile/stronger than just last week, pulling up on everything,  I guess you can say he's starting to cruise (I guess that's the term for holding things and moving from one to the other like practice walking).  If you hold his hands and he's standing he walks.  One foot in front of the other like a pro!

We tried puffs but if they get on his tongue and he starts gagging, then the next thing that happens is that he throws up.  This is the same for any small smushy possible finger food.  I guess he's just not ready.  He can actually do quite a few puffs but if he's gets one in his mouth the wrong way, party's over. So, he's still doing purees and seems to like most stuff, not green beans though.

The other formula that we tried didn't work out either. So, now he is drinking a soy based formula.  I'm still pumping 3-4 times a day, although, I'm getting ready to go to 2 times a day. I'm sad it's not working out better for breastfeeding but I guess I should be proud for making it 6 months, and now still pumping 2 months later.  The breastmilk is about 1/3 - 1/2 of his daily intake so that's still pretty good.

I'll try to get some pictures and videos up soon.

  1. Hey there! Luc sounds like he's doing great! Yup, cruising, then toddling, then he'll be off and running before you know it!

Have you tried mesh feeders with him? Mason started on purees at 4 months (early, yes, but he maxed out on formula and was still hungry, so our pediatrician said it was time), and he ate like a pro after the first couple of weeks. Took to solids really, really fast, too. Declan took forever, then I realized that he did much better if I gave him larger chunks of food that he could hold onto and mash with his gums like half a banana. Give him a little piece of banana, and he'd gag, but half a banana, and he was golden. Weird, huh?

Hi to everyone! Sounds like you are all doing really well!
